Detailed Description

- Interprets seismic data and prepares maps and seismic attribute data for input into geological models for reservoir characterization.

- Uses probabilistic and deterministic methods to analyze reservoir uncertainties, risks and reserve ranges and is responsible for management of workstation projects.

- Uses seismic attribute analysis to characterize reservoir properties in major fields.

- Recommends and supervises seismic data purchases, new acquisition and processing. Investigates and understands the value and limitations of geophysical data due to acquisition and processing.

- Participates and coordinates as required in drilling, reservoir management and production activities with other multi-discipline team members

- Demonstrates fundamental understanding of issues and negotiations as they relate to partners and regulatory agencies

Job Requirements

- Master`s degree in Geology or Geophysics

- A minimum of five years experience in geophysical interpretation

- Superior knowledge and demonstrable skills and understanding of reservoir engineering, drilling, and production operations

- Deepwater and international experience is preferred

- Petrel experience a plus

- Champion Mechanical Completion Safety
- Develops plans for transitions from Construction to Mechanical Completion to System Completion
- Manages transition of Area based Construction Superintendents to that necessary for mechanical completion

- Interfaces with the Site Quality Advisor & Site Commissioning Lead for system completions database management with regard to mechanical completion and administers mechanical completion record management
- Coordinate interface and interaction with contractors and subcontractors, and with operations and drilling personnel on site

- Coordinate interfaces and interactions between discipline/area leads and contractor mechanical completion (MC) group
- Tracking Mechanical Completion to Systems Completion integration to facilitate an effective commissioning campaign.
- Responsible for overall coordination of mechanical completion discipline-related activities
- Monitor and appraise contractor construction activities and performance. Determine any corrective actions needed in order to meet mechanical completion objectives and work to have these implemented
- Coordinates on-site Operations and company personnel regarding planning and implementation of mechanical completion activities
- Manage punch list activities with project team groups
- Audit/Oversight of MC Dossier

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

- BS/MS in Engineering
- 10+ years multi-disciplined experience in systems completion & mechanical completion

Our client, a leading independent owner/operator is recruiting for a Senior level Geoscience Advisor to work in their exciting New Ventures division, reporting to one of the VP ENV, located in Calgary, AB.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 20 years of experience including; 5-10 years experience in areas of deepwater exploration, development and production, 3-5 years experience in international conventional exploration as either a geological or geophysical interpreter.

Responsibilities of this position include: a demonstrated track record of 5+ years of bringing the most recent advances in deepwater interpretation and evaluation and applying along with excellent technical judgment in data rooms as well as regional evaluations. The position requires the ability to quickly collect and synthesize regional geologic data to create play fairway maps in order to high grade the hydrocarbon potential of a basin, often under time pressure in a data room setting; to be comfortable and effective working with varying degrees of data coverage; to identify and generate high quality opportunities for investment consideration; and to balance sound business judgment with excellent technical skills. Experience in creating and guiding team members to development of exploration strategies is a requirement. The position requires mentorship of less experienced team members in seismic interpretation.

Experience:

A university post graduate degree in geosciences. The candidate should have good working knowledge relating to petroleum systems and subsurface risk assessment, geochemistry, sedimentology, deepwater stratigraphy, seismic interpretation (using GeoFrame) in deepwater settings, AVO, deepwater drilling and completions techniques. Exposure to pore pressure prediction, fracture prediction and/or geomechanics would be an asset. Practical experience in petrophysics and/or computer mapping through Unix and/or PC based systems (e.g., Geographix, ArcGIS) is critical. Selected candidates will display exceptional interpersonal, oral, written and presentation skills. Previous experience leading a team of geoscience professionals would be an asset.
