Our nuclear client based near to Preston is currently looking for CE&I Designers due to an increased workload they have presently and going into 2014.
The project work will be predominantly for Sellafield producing control panel designs,control desk designs, production of BCD`s and wiring diagrams, schematics, general arrangements. Candidates must be proficient with AutoCAD.
The candidate will ideally have prior nuclear experience and be security cleared or hold a P4 pass for site surveys at Sellafield, but this is not essential - the client is able to put candidates through the clearance process (this usually takes around 4-6 weeks to complete).

Our Client is an EPC contractor that offers professional technical services from design to operations globally. They have a requirement for a permanent Principal Technical Safety Engineer to join their team.
Key Activities and Responsibilities
- To review Statement of Requirements for selected project taking into consideration the clients policies on DHSE and secure its approval from the Client team
- To coordinate DHSE protection for the design and engineering phases of projects
- To ensures close co-ordination with End-Users throughout the execution of projects up to the stage of Final Acceptance

- Project work will include resource allocation; support of the schedule; workflow; manhour spread; and progress measurement. Reviewing the design for compliance both formally and informally
- Assist in the definition of the technical audit requirement for project work and respond to both internal and external departmental audits as required
- Use and develop software application tools necessary for the disciplines work needs including Calculation, and Data base simulation. Interaction and work share will be an essential part of development in this area

Purpose/Role
To deliver the safety studies required to ensure that projects and particular change proposals carried out by the delivery team for clients who have the associated risks reduced to as low as is reasonably practicable and at least meet current legislative requirements
To act as the safety engineering and verification focal point for particular modification and design jobs carried out by the delivery design team
Key aims and objectives

PURPOSE OF JOB:
A Senior Designer is responsible for the preparation of specific design documentation for individual projects or proposals and will ensure that this documentation is prepared efficiently, accurately and in accordance with the project requirements
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Ensure that all drawing office deliverables, whether CAD or manually produced, satisfy company accuracy and presentational requirements and are prepared in accordance with the Company and Project Quality Assurance requirements
Responsible for checking of drawings in accordance with Company Procedures
Act as a Senior Designer on proposals as assigned by the Chief Electrical Engineer and to carry out design work for such proposals
Liaise with other disciplines as required
Ensure personal compliance with current company policy, relevant legislation and company and client`s requirements for Health, Safety and Environmental matters and work in such a manner not to cause personal harm or injury to fellow workers, client and subcontractor employees or the environment
Ensure all work is carried out in a manner that will produce a safe and operable design, and that all personnel assigned work in a safe manner; in particular ensure that all personnel assigned to the worksite are adequately briefed and trained
DIMENSIONS:
Responsibility usually covers single medium projects or group of several small projects, or specific tasks or a group of tasks
The number of staff supervised is project dependent, but is generally up to 5 drawing office staff
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Good knowledge of design working practices and installation requirements of the discipline in a range of industries
Proven capability as a Designer by the successful execution of a number of projects
A commensurate amount of experience with a proven track record as a Designer on several projects in a similar environment
QUALIFICATIONS:
ONC / OND / HNC / HND or equivalent qualification + commensurate experience
