Project Manager: Refinery Petrochemicals

Summary:

Management of all phases of program and project activities that range from small to large in value (up to $200m) and a variety of scopes that include engineering, procurement, construction and /or operations. Directs preparation of work plans, supervises project teams, and manages project scope, budget and schedule. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsible for management of multiple or single major projects through the management of Project Managers with the basic objective of completing these projects

May be responsible for all phases of planning and execution of the largest and most complex of projects.

Oversees project safety and quality programs.

Plans, organizes, coordinates, and controls projects in accordance with the established policies, procedures, systems, and requirements.

LEVEL 3 CERTIFICATION IN NDT SYSTEMS USED IN THE OFFSHORE INDUSTRY, NAMELY AUTOMATIC

ULTRASONIC INSPECTION SYSTEMS FOR PIPELINES, MANUAL ULTRASONIC TESTING, RADIOGRAPHY AND MAGNETIC PARTICLE INSPECTION OR

DEGREE IN ENGINEERING (WELDING ENGINEERING)

ESSENTIAL SKILLS FOR THE JOB:

Minimum 10 years of experience in nondestructive testing in the offshore contracting

industry both in fabrication facilities and offshore

International travel and offshore work are an inherent part of this job

Ability to work with a team made up of different nationalities is essential

DESIRABLE SKILLS FOR THE JOB:

IT literate in Microsoft office projects

Experience of running NDT operations either in a laboratory environment or in a project

environment

PROJECTS TO BE WORKED ON:

Offshore pipe lay projects and onshore fabrication work including structures, riser

systems, process piping and pipelines lengths and spool pieces including carbon steel

and corrosion resistant ally clad and lined pipelines

Lead and run a team of 9-11 reservoir engineers and production technologists

Responsible for personal development, training and growth of the petroleum engineers within the team

Ensure that training and mentorship takes place for graduate/junior trainees

Deliver high quality, consistent petroleum engineering to the Uganda Business Unit, including:

oProvide ranges on production forecasting and reserve assessments.

oAssist with infill planning.

oCoordinate and carry out subsurface reservoir analytical studies and assessments, and present the results of studies to various parties.

oCarry out reservoir engineering development work on selected Uganda assets.

oBuild accurate and comprehensive databases of information by monitoring reservoir and individual wells performance.

oCoordinate data acquisition programmes and Reservoir Engineering Studies

oAnalyse and evaluate reservoir development.

Work with Subsurface manager in Partner and Government interactions on petroleum engineering issues.

The Petroleum Engineering Lead will :

Work with Subsurface Manager to put plans in place for :

Reservoir simulation modelling

Well test design and start up programmes

Reservoir/well performance monitoring

Production and reserves forecasting

Conventional material balance analysis

Evaluation/Optimization of Production network efficiency. (i.e. Production back-out analysis)

Specialized Reservoir Engineering Analysis

Integrating subsurface studies to optimise field development

Working with economics team to deliver robust and value adding development plans.

Working with Subsurface Manager and Functional managers ensure recruitment, staff moves and career development plans are in place for all staff and meet business need.

PROJECT MANAGER:

As a multi-disciplined organization, we can undertake every stage of mining project development from scoping studies and metallurgical test work, to feasibility analysis and final design, to construction and commissioning.

Summary of Position:

The primary function of this individual is to build the project team while ensuring successful delivery of mining metallurgical projects within budget, on schedule and in accordance with the approved plans and specifications and applicable government codes, all within established project methodologies.

Responsibilities:

To perform this role successfully, the individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

Maintain a healthy and safe workplace, and ensure compliance with all applicable codes and legislation, including occupational health and safety, WHMIS and hazardous substances programs
Manage capital projects through all states of the project life cycle from initiation through to project close out
Develop project work plans and schedules, discuss project priorities with client, plan assigned program
Prepare cost estimates and budgets
Forecast monthly revenue, monthly financial reporting and client invoicing
Direct and coordinate technical employees or consultants in the preparation of studies, designs, plans, specifications and cost estimates
Ensure that all project components and activities meet local, provincial and or federal codes and regulations
Approve trade supplier and contractor invoices in accordance with project specifications, field change orders,
Identify and manage all project issues and risks
Proactively liaise with and report progress to customers
Reconcile project performance against plan at project completion, and conduct customer satisfaction assessments
Close down the project ensuring that a complete handover to the client and support team is done and that all relevant project documentation is present and accurate for the project file

Qualifications:

BSc in an applicable engineering discipline
15-20 years of experience in managing industrial and mining metallurgical projects
Experience managing large teams in multi-disciplinary teams
Prior EPC/EPCM project experience on major projects
Demonstrated knowledge of all project functions
Distinct results orientation combined with outstanding communication, interpersonal and team building skills
Working knowledge of design and construction practices
Ability to supervise and evaluate the work of subordinates
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Ability to establish program policies and procedures and evaluate their effectiveness
Ability to work under pressure
Excellent client service/management, interpersonal, problem-solving, verbal and written communication skills.
