Principal Instrument Designer Runcorn Long term contract Oil and gas - competitive rates.
Our oil and gas client based in Runcorn currently requires a Principal Instrument Designer on a long term contract basis.
Job Description:
Responsible for the timely execution of Instrument designs to strict timetables. Detail design of Instrument drawings/documents/schedules. Generate and issue package of drawings/documents/schedules, D/O estimates and Cost time resource (CTR).Maintain deliverables registers. Conduct offshore surveys and generate/issue survey reports. Discuss problems with the client and determine possible solutions for implementation. Attend project meetings.
Job Requirements:
Proven ability in the design and implementation of E+I projects.
A knowledge of electrical systems would be an advantage but the principal knowledge base shall be Instruments. Understanding of offshore codes of practice, regulations and standards desirable.
Needs to be aware of current Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.
Competent with Hazardous area equipment working with ATEX and PED.
Ability to manage technical meetings, liaise/feedback with other disciplines, project management, client and regulatory authorities. Able to manage and develop junior reporting personnel.
Possess core behaviours i.e. honesty, integrity, HSE awareness. Ability to explain clearly any work handed over and to listen to others suggestion.
5 years experience in engineering.
Oil and Gas experience highly desirable, but petrochemicals and other industries acceptable.
Preference is for Time served, Oil and Gas/Petrochem, HNC qualified plus relevant experience.
Possession of (or willingness to obtain) Offshore survival certification to undertake offshore surveys would be preferable.
Drawing packages, Autocad, Microstation, Microsoft office packages

- Provides bid engineering support and prepare CTR related to subsea design and installation.

Education:

- THE PIPING LEAD ENGINEER SHALL ENSURE A SAFE, EFFICIENT PLANT DESIGN DEVELOPED TO COMPLY WITH AGREED PROJECT CODES AND GOOD ENGINEERING PRACTICES.
