Our client is currently looking to recruit a Lead Cost Engineer on a contract basis for a role based in Warrington.
Description of job purpose:
The incumbent will closely lead, administer and manage commercial aspects of the contract with stakeholders of a project; client and external subcontractors. They provide contractual and commercial advice to the Project Management team and often operate as the Project Managers right hand person
Duties:
Leading a team of Cost engineers on a project and /or aspects of a project
Providing advice on suitable terms and conditions for contracts
Drafting commercial qualifications for tender submissions
Estimating
Setting up and operating project cost control
Compiling and agreeing assessments/valuations
Operating EVA and making project recommendations
Producing and presenting project commercial reports
Project forecasting
Notifying, valuing and agreeing variations with client and engineering teams
Subcontract enquiries, setting up subcontracts and managing subcontract accounts

Required Qualifications:
Minimum Bsc or equivalent level of qualification is required in a relevant subject e.g. Quantity Surveying etc.
PC literate in Microsoft Office suite
UK Driving licence is essential
Flexibility to travel to other UK offices and sites on occasion is necessary
Preferably degree qualified in technical/engineering or project management discipline though not essential
SC or DV level security clearance is preferred though not essential. All candidates MUST be eligible for security clearance
Required Experience:
Demonstrable competence gained in a Quantity Surveying or similar role within a project delivery environment
Knowledge and experience of work breakdown structures and their application to large projects
Knowledge and experience of project cost monitoring techniques e.g. Earned Value
An understanding of contract conditions for supply of professional services and their implications for estimating would be an advantage e.g. reimbursable day rates, fixed price contracts
Ideally experienced within a construction industry e.g civil, electrical or mechanical engineering disciplines
A fundamental understanding of the Project Lifecycle is essential

The Role:
Attending client meetings
