Control and Instrumentation Technician - Bio Ethanol Facility - Permanent Position - Based in Humberside - £30k plus, call out, annualised hours and benefits (bonus etc)
Our client is looking to recruit a Control and Instrumentation Technician is part of the electrical, instrumentation and control (EIC) team and reports to the Electrical Systems Engineer. The plant is a Bio Ethanol Facility which is controlled by a Distributed Control System (DCS) interfacing to a number of individual PLC`s and intelligent MCC`s. The field instrumentation is largely intelligent and networked to the DCS.
Large parts of the plant have been deemed hazardous areas in accordance with the Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations (DSEAR) and have been zoned accordingly. There are also a number of Safety Integrated Systems (SIS) to IEC61511 and business critical systems designed to ensure compliance to environmental and HMRC legislation.
All work carried out on the system will be recorded on the computerised maintenance management system.
Key results expected from job:
Key areas of accountability will include, but not limited to:
Controlling abnormal situations and emergencies
Implementing the key risk control systems necessary for the control of major hazards
Ensuring all inspections and maintenance procedures are implemented in order to meet COMAH requirements
Maintenance of the DCS hardware
Maintenance of PLC hardware and other similar associated programmable systems
Development of the DCS graphics
Maintenance of all field instrumentation in accordance with statutory and mandatory requirements
Development of the software associated with the DCS, PLC`s and similar associated programmable systems to optimise overall system performance and plant operation
Development of the interfaces between the different intelligent systems
Maintaining back-ups of all software
Assessing manufacturers` hardware and firmware upgrade proposals
Management of instrumentation, control and discipline-related contractors.
Co-ordination with other disciplines and suppliers.
Knowledge and experience of DCS, PLC`s, Safety Integrity Systems (SIS), intelligent field instruments and networked units.

Apprentice trained
C&G 2381 - BS7671 wiring regulations qualifications
C&G 2391 - BS7671 inspection and testing of fixed electrical installations
Electricity at Work Regulations qualifications
HND / HNC Electrical Engineering
CompEx trained for both gas and dust (Ex01 to Ex06 inclusive)
NEBOSH ``Working Safely``
Qualified First Aider preferred, trained in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) following electric shock as a minimum.
