Our client, a major Operating Company, is presently looking for a Handling & Lifting Supervisor (CPLO) to join its team in Yemen on a 28 day on / 28 day off working cycle. The assignment will start in March 2012 with 2 candidates required to work back to back during a 12 month contract period.
Job Activity;
- Control all lifting operations in the site.
- Perform physical inspection of all incoming and outgoing handling, lifting and transportation equipment (e.g. trucks, container, slinging, skid units, Tanks ...etc) both for Company equipment and for equipment supplied by contractors, and verify load test certificates for lifting equipment and conformity of other handling equipment.
- Ensure that lifting equipments are correctly colour-coded and in good condition.
- Ensure people are using the proper lifting equipment and work in a safe way with the appropriate training through regular inspections.
- Provide clear and concise instructions, training advice to the Base Personnel. Suspends activities when there is a potential or actual threat of human health, harm to the assets or the environment means any potential unsafe operation shall be stopped and remedial actions taken to resume works.
- Ensures that loading and offloading operations of materials dispatched and returned to / from the operations or reception at the base are executed respecting handling & lifting good practices and in accordance with Quality, Safety & environment rules.
- Check all certificates for new equipment received to ensure that they comply purchase orders sent out from base and to check records of lifting equipment and checks the validity of test or expiry date of certificates to take action for necessary retest / scrapping or tagging.
- Reports and investigates on anomalies, incidents, accidents occurring at the base or/and during Lifting operations.
- Issue lifting and handling procedure for the affiliate and ensure that they are well understood and applied.
- Assess personnel competencies to carryout lifting or handling operation.
