Our client, a leading provider of services to the onshore and offshore oil & gas industry, currently have a requirement for both a Senior and a Principal Mechanical Engineer for work based in the north of Scotland.
Role:
To manage the specification, vendor control and document review, FAT and delivery of static equipment as part of an onshore terminal upgrade project.
The role will also include the interface management between the disciplines undertaking the upgrade and the equipment manufacturers.
Purpose / Role:
Estimate and execute discipline engineering activities within budget and schedule whilst maintaining technical integrity and complying with HS&E Values and supervision of discipline engineers, designers and administrative functions.
To represent the company internally and externally to management level.
Technical focal point for specific topics.
Key aims and objectives:
Execute engineering activities with respect to Concept, Front End Engineering Development, Technical Study, Detailed Design, Root Cause Analysis and Peer Review.
Specify and requisition equipment and packages through to delivery, installation and handover.
Work and co-ordinate with our customer, internal departments and vendors.
Coach and encourage less experienced engineers.
Prime responsibilities and duties:
Responsible for assessing effectiveness of working practices and systems with a view to continuously improving systems, personal and team performance.
Carry out work in accordance with project Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality systems.
Maintain the required technical quality of work.
Be fully conversant with design and assessment methods including analytical tools and theoretical background for analysis programmes used within areas of expertise.
Undertake staff appraisals.
Undertake mentoring of discipline graduate engineers.
To prepare man-hour and cost estimates for studies, design, fabrication and installation.
Identify scope and schedule changes in accordance with Change Control Process.
Within areas of expertise be fully conversant with codes of practice, standards and statutory regulations and ensure that designs comply.
Fully experienced in the supervision of discipline engineers and designers and associated administrative functions.
Ensure, as far as practically possible, that all assigned work is carried out in compliance with agreed budget and schedule.
Keep up to date with technical developments, National and International standards and legislative requirements related to the discipline scope.
Competent in planning, progress monitoring, forecasting and reporting.
Familiar with and competent in commercial, contractual and administrative aspects of engineering.
Maintain good communication with the Client and visit Assets when necessary.
Encourage and provide lateral learning within the department and projects.
