NES Global is a leading global technical recruitment company providing professional contract and permanent staff to a diverse world-wide client base within the oil & gas Industry. Our client, a major Oil and Gas Operator have an opportunity for a Sr. Materials and Corrosion Engineer to work on a long term contract based in Houston, Texas.
The Materials and Corrosion Engineer is expected to be able to provide:
- Support to existing facilities including (Upstream and/or Downstream Manufacturing):
o Identify needs for and direct laboratory work for materials qualifications for materials in well, flowline, and pipeline equipment.
o Ability to establish equipment and integrity operating windows based on materials compatibility and life cycle costs
o Material specification and prequalification
o Turnaround inspection and repair recommendations, and overall Quality assurance
o Leading metallurgical failure investigations: identifying failure modes and directing laboratory testing and examinations, skillful in use of failure investigation tool s such as metallography, SEM, mechanical testing etc.
o Troubleshooting, and technical support for corrosion and materials issues in operating plant equipment in refineries, petrochemical facilities, pipelines, and upstream surface facilities.
o Process equipment operating data analysis and interpretations, as it relates to the control of integrity operating windows. Emphasis is on corrosion degradation mechanism identification and control.
o Preparation of corrosion control documents or corrosion control strategies for key process units in downstream, upstream, and gas assets
o Project support / quality assurance for materials selection, understanding the process parameters impacting corrosion and equipment life.
o Ability to develop and use corrosion models to predict corrosion rates and determine methods to control. Ability to perform failure diagnosis and mitigation work on degraded components.
o Corrosion inhibition - materials testing/compatibility, inhibitor qualification for wells and pipeline/flowline services
Education / Experience:
-Minimum of BS in metallurgical, corrosion, or chemical engineering with a minimum of 5 years experience (preferably 10 years) as a materials and corrosion engineer in the oil production or refining industry. Experience in both industries is a plus.
